Northwest Persia (Iran), c. 249 x 161 cm, about 1900, the town of Senneh is among the strongholds of the Kurdish art of weaving, the carpets are easily recognisable on the grounds of their low shear, cloth-like feel and ribbed back, the most widespread pattern is the herati design, the delicately striped pattern of the present piece is rather unusual and reminiscent of the shawls from Kirman and Kashmir, signs of wear with low pile, both ends and fringes replaced.
