Northeast China, c. 65 x 61 cm, about 1920, a rare imperial silk sitting rug with the image of a dragon, the spandrels feature flaming pearls, with an inner frame of bright wave symbols, the outer border with symmetrically arranged sea waves, from the middle of which a mountain rises, cloud bands form the narrow inner end straps, with the Chinese characters for "good fortune" and "longevity" in a cartouche, all sides complete and original, silk pile with slight signs of wear.
