Unlike most other versions, this example of the “elephant trunk table” uses nickel silver for the sabots and the edging. This creates an especially harmonious effect in combination with the glazed blue tiles on the table top. The elephant trunk table, documented in writing and photographs at the Friedrich Otto Schmidt Archive, was used, inter alia, in the apartments of Dr Hugo Haberfeld and in the study at the apartment of Gustav Turnovsky (both from 1902).
