The Madonna and Child in a stone cartouche with flowers,
oil on canvas, 114 x 93 cm, framed
Fred Meijer, then RKD, The Hague, confirmed the authenticity of the present painting. The figures of the Madonna and Child can be attributed to the Flemish painter Cornelis Schut (Antwerp 1597–1655). Another version of this composition, signed and dated 1646, is in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford.
