Saryk Torba,
West Turkestan, c. 38 x 132 cm, beginning of the 19th century, the shemle-gul field pattern with border decorations is strongly reminiscent of Salor bags of the so-called S-group; the present item is a very early Saryk piece with a high proportion of multicoloured silk parts and partly cotton pile in symmetrical knots, an indication of its age are its wefts, which have been executed with one wool and one silk weft each, worth mentioning is also the technique of the loop knot which has been used for parts of the item; upper finish with folded-back blue kilim typical of this region, lower end also with woven finish stitched on the back, consistently low pile, two small tears are backed and secured with fabric, the side edges have been repaired.
