Kashmir Shawl,
probably France, c. 174 x 171 cm, early 20th century, as a result of considerable demand for these embroideries originally from India, a continuous production that made use of the Jacquard loom developed in Europe; the present, extremely light, square-shaped textile with central round medallion and filigree pattern weaving is preserved in good condition, without holes, and items such as this one are still often worn today by women around their neck and shoulders.
