Tekke Torba,
West Turkestan, c. 39 x 112 cm, beginning of the 19th century, As2 (asymmetrical knot, open to the right, unlayered), H 50, V 120 = 6,000 kts/sqm; very finely knotted 6-gul torba of the “Smith Collection” type with rare border and large chemche bars in the secondary motifs, special attention deserve the double-horn motifs of the abstract animal heads in the chuval guls; despite its age, the present torba is in exceptionally good colour condition and overall state of preservation with deep, velvety pile wool, and is among the top pieces of this group; woven back and ornamental fringes have also been entirely preserved.
