The Czeck painter and well-known portraitist Antonin Machek started his career in the tradition of Late Baroque and Rococo. „In the wallpaintings one can feel die influence of his teachers A. Tuvora und L. Kohl and the exotism of rococo and with its antique and architectural motifs the spirit of early classicism with which Machek decorated in Chrast castle near Pardubice the residence of the bishops of Königgrätz... “ (cited by Ludek Novàk, Antonin Machek, Prague 1962, p. 197).
