Large and splendid Neo-Baroque canapé,
Italy (Florence) ca. 1855/60, according to a fragment of a paper label glued to the piece, produced by the workshops of FRANCESCO MORINI in Florence. A high quality hardwood structure, richly carved with rocaille, also painted gold, of a splayed form, and with floral carvings and putti on the backrest. Width ca. 220 cm. Some traces of ageing and wear. (DOC)
Superb execution. Francesco Morini was in his time a very renowned producer of carved and painted furniture. He received numerous contracts from the Italian court: his works can be seen in Palazzo Pitti, as well as in Palazzo Borghese. See.
