porcelain, cover with gold edge, peeled cut lemon with foliate branch as knob, sides with ozier relief, colour painted flower garlands and spray of flowers, cover and bowl at front as well as reverse side each with two large colour painted depictions in 'island style' following English models, bowl showing a large table and ten persons, a punch society drinking and smoking in lively discussion 'Fremans Best' following the painting 'A Midnight Modern Conversation' by W. Hogarth around 1732, at centre of the table a large punch bowl being served from, foreground showing a lying drunk who has fallen to the ground with his chair, a person seated next to him is pouring wine over him, peeled and cut lemons lying on the ground as well as empty wine bottles, leaning against the rocaille wall is a seated gentleman in blue coat, a card 'London the Grosmen' is in his pocket, leaning against the wall a target, on the wall wine bottles, the reverse side features a table with a punch bowl and four persons, the father is taking the bowl, the drunk young man taking the ladle, his young wife is pulling him away and the priest is admonishingly raising his hand, the cover shows at left the depiction table with punch bowl, the priest is filling the bowl, looking at the seated young man biting into the lemon, behind that a kneeling drunk with tub, gentleman and lady seated in conversation at table, at right the depiction of a table with basket of lemons, two gentlemen holding goblets in their hands and cheering to each other, the seated persons are in discussion, a drunk gentleman lying in the foreground with wine bottle in his left hand, in front of that a seated dog watching, all depictions in landscapes, height 29 cm, short lemon branch restored, edge of cover with restored area, dia. 30 cm, Meißen, underglaze blue sword mark around 1750-1760, former number 61 (Ru)
