designed in c. 1880, Arras, France, with garden table, 20th century; chairs: sculptural, four-legged cast iron construction with seat and backrest rails. Marked with plaquette: “Société anonyme Saint-Sauveur Arras”. Garden table: cast iron support with square, red painted metal table top. An early model with horse hooves. Arras furniture was first created in around 1840, when in the French town of Arras the manufacturer Grassin-Balédans specialised in the production of garden furniture and wrought-iron objects.
At that time, the objects were not welded and still forged by hand.
