Iran, c. 95 x 110 cm, 19th century. Saddle blankets from the West Persian province of Senneh are among the finest riding textiles produced in Asia. They were placed on saddles carved out of wood and had representative functions. They were used on festive occasions, for horse fights and for the prestigious ride to the bazaar.
