We are grateful to Luuk Pijl for endorsing the attribution of the present painting to the Flemish artist Gerard de la Vallée. A written certificate is available. Pijl writes that the work is ‘a very fine example by an accomplished master working in the style of Jan Brueghel the Elder, catering the strong demand for highly finished small size cabinet paintings’.
