The present The Adoration of the Shepherds by an as yet unidentified Netherlandish hand contains several kneeling and contrapposto figures redolent of those used in treatments of the same subject by the mannerist painter Joachim Wtewael (1566–1638), such as the version conserved in the Centraal Museum, Utrecht.
