Rolex Submariner
rare wristwatch for the British military, reference 5513, c. 1965
Case: stainless steel, number 1546067, registration number 0552/932-7697, unit number 172/69, rotating bezel, screw crown, fixed strap lugs, diameter c. 40 mm
Movement: self-winding, lever movement, calibre 1520, 26 stones
Dial: black, luminous dot, baton and dagger numerals, central second
Accessories: copy of a certificate of authenticity from Wagner (Rolex concessionaire)
Rolex supplied watches to the British military especially in the 1970s. The models 5513 and 5517 of the Submariner were used for the military with special modifications. In total, only about 1,200 pieces were produced. The present watch was delivered to the Royal Navy in 1969. The hands have been supplemented with non-original parts and the watchband has been removed.
