Turkish needlework,
West Anatolia (Turkey), c. 115 x 112 cm, about 1700, embroideries in this square format are referred to as wrapping cloths, multi-directional floral clusters, the flowers framed by a curved leafy border, the red colour is an insect-derived dye, on exquisite linen ground, comprised of three parts, with patterns of silk, some holes and staining, ornamental fringes incomplete, mounted on a wooden frame.
