Iran, c. 190 x 134 cm, 19th century. A rustic sheep wool carpet of the Shakak clan of eastern Kurdistan in the usual high wool and colour quality. The central field features stylised terrapins, the floral border is framed by two differently coloured “running dog” borders. Well preserved with several traces of use. (VP)
