, act 7 from the series: "Kanadehon Chushingura" (The Treasury of Loyal Retainers), dated 1806, no signature or publisher’s seal, publisher: (Kinsuke Tsuruya); according to Gordon Friese, to whom we owe this expert opinion, the present sheet is a print of the first state (cf. also Hokusai Catalogue Raisonne, no. 131), see sheets, Worcester, British Museum and Yale. The scene depicts Heiemon killing Kudayu at Ichiriki teahouse while Okaru and Yuranosuke look on. The colours have heavily faded, a few wormholes to the upper left corner and below in the pink of the left cloud, some stains, margins minimally damaged, attached to support, 26.4 x 39 cm, (CT)
