(1874 - 1929), handwritten folded letter with signature (Hugo), no place, no date, (Vienna, 20. 2. 1893), 3 1/2 pages, thin cardboard, 11 x 7 cm, the first sheet with a printed gallant couple in late 18th-century costumes, small tear along the fold, envelope.
The letter is addressed to Baroness Leonore (Lorle) Karg von Bebenburg, later married Worms (1876 - 1948): "Dear Lolo. When I went home, I realised that you hadn’t kept your promise, because you didn't have the grace to think of it when you returned your fan. Also, I thought that I would really like to have something from you as a gift - namely, a photograph. One of those that sit on mother's desk. However, not the one with the affected head posture, but the other one. You have probably already guessed which one. So be kind, not obstinate, and think that sometimes kindness is also a good educational tool for naughty people. I will then write a beautiful piece for you, not at all arrogant but tremendously appropriate, in well-mannered verse and in whatever costumes you want. Yours Hugo". A very early letter of the 19-year-old poet, who already enjoyed extraordinary success at a young age.
