The Roman Bath was opened on the occasion of the Vienna world fair in 1873 and closed in 1953. It was a luxurious private bath near Praterstern in Vienna’s Leopoldstadt. It was built after designs by the architects Heinrich Claus und Josef Groß. At that time it was the biggest steam and hot air bath of the world and a popular meeting place of the society. Some parts of the bath’s former premises are preserved Holzhausergasse 4-6, 1020 Vienna.
