porcelain, 55 elements: 1 coffee pot with cover and rosebud finial, height 24.5 cm, 2 jugs height 9, 11.5 cm, for milk and lemon, 1 sugar-box with cover and rosebud finial height 11 cm, 12 coffee cups with 12 saucers diameter 14 cm, 5 teacups, 1 margin chipped, with 5 saucers diameter 15 cm, 13 dessert plates diameter 18 cm, 1 large cake tray diameter 28 cm, 1 small cake plate diameter 25 cm, 1 oval bread plate height 3.5 cm, length 19 cm, 1 confectionery plate diameter 13.5 cm, the bodies with curving gilt edging, iron-red and gold-painted dragons with symbols of good fortune from the “infinite knot” with pearl, coin, scroll and artemisia leaf of the Chinese Eight Treasures as well as phoenixes, underglaze blue crossed swords mark (Ru)

Porzellan Sammlung Dresden im Zwinger, 1998 exhibition collection, p. 166. “In keeping with Augustus the Strong’s great enthusiasm for Chinese and, even more, Japanese porcelain, the Meissen dinner service with the “Red Dragon” displays a thorough East Asian influence. Until 1918, the Red Dragon décor was reserved exclusively for porcelain used at the Saxon royal court. It was produced in other colours only after 1918.”
