Emperor Francis Joseph I King of Hungary – container of the Hungarian king’s earth,
brass, gilded, oval, the body with band of laurel leaves and engraved monogram "FJI", inscription "Bizalmam az ösi ereny ben" (my trust in founding values), hinged lid in the form of the holy Hungarian crown of St Stephen, decorated with coloured glass stones, height 6,8 cm, base with number "10" and maker’s mark "Szendrik", Hungary, c. 1867, (Lu)
This container was filled with earth of the Hungarian coronation mound – which was brought from all counties to Budapest. The containers with the consecrated coronation earth were worn on the breast on a cord.
