Provenance: Estate of Carl Waissnix (1851-1943), son of the industrialist and hotelier Alois Waissnix (1820-1913). Alois Waissnix ran the Thalhof in Reichenau a. d. Rax as a guesthouse and hotel, where Emperor Francis Joseph I and his family stayed on the occasion of hunts in Reichenau. The present game pieces of the young Crown Prince Rudolf remained there. Handwritten statement enclosed: “Spielsachen von weiland Kronprinz Rudolf an Carl Waissnix 1860” [Toys from the late Crown Prince Rudolf to Carl Waissnix 1860].
