"Josef Luitpold: Der entwurzelte Baum", 1925/26, block book with 31 woodcuts (text and illustrations), printer’s mark in woodcut, on thin Japan paper, signed and dated ORSchatz 26 in the printer’s mark, the blank page with dedication "Meinem Freunde Ernst Wessely" additionally signed and dated, no. 7 of only 8 block prints before the edition of the Büchergilde Gutenberg/Berlin 1926, block size each c. 18.3 x 14.5 cm, book format 29.5 x 22.8 cm, 38 pages in original parchment binding, the latter illustrated with a small watercolour on the front cover, cover with slight traces of age and use, (RAC)
Very rare in this form due to the small edition. In the tradition of late medieval blockbooks, the text and image of each page are cut and printed in in the same woodblock.
