consisting of: 2 jugs in canopic form, height 21.5 cm, 19 cm, sugar bowl with crocodile finial, height 9.5 cm, 2 cups with saucers, height 8.5 cm, porcelain, the body with polychromed and gold-painted hieroglyphs, brown and gilt edges, cups and jugs with polychrome painted serpent handles, dated (17)94, (17)98, (1)801, turner no. 11 Thomas Mitterer, 47 Mathias Schwaiger, former U Kasper Hartmann, underglaze blue Austrian shield, 1 saucer restored, crocodile tail chipped, 1 jug cover with firing crack and continuous hairline crack, 1 hair strand chipped, (Hr)
Napoleon Bonaparte's expedition in 1798-1801 inspired European porcelain manufactories to create new shapes and decorations. Illustrated travel reports, engravings and drawings served as models and suggestions for new interpretations of the porcelains.
