Franz Kaisermann

Franz Kaisermann is also known as François Keisermann or Francesco Kaisermann. In 1789 he moved to Rome and began his activities as a watercolor artist. He worked under the guidance of Louis Ducros. After a six years sojourn in Naples he settled in Rome in 1797. Numerous Roman views were created here, such as ruins, the waterfalls of Tivoli and patrician villas in the Alban Hills. His watercolors, which he signed “Keisermann” attracted the attention of distinguished travelers to Rome and found many admirers. Keisermann painted for Prince Frederic of Saxony-Gotha, Grand duke Michael, Duke Wolkonkij, Count Gurjeff, Prince Gustav of Schweden and for the English diplomat Stratford-Canning among others.
