leather, welted sole with spurs, height 34 cm, shoe size c. 41, sealed confirmation of provenance by the valet-de-chambre Eugen Ketterl from 1914, (Lu)
A pair of the Emperor’s personal half boots (ankle boots) with spurs. The confirmation reads: “ ... bestätigt die Echtheit dieser augemusterten Halbstiefel, welche ausschließlich von Sr. k. u. k. apostol. Majestät Franz Josef I. getragen wurden Schönbrunn 24.(?).1914 Ketterl” [confirms that this no longer used pair of half boots was used exclusively by his majesty Francis Joseph I] (The confirmation’s seal is broken and partly loose) Emperor Francis Joseph I wore half boots with spurs with his uniform when he was not on horseback. A comparable pair (without spurs) is preserved in the Vienna Shoe Museum, 66 Florianigasse, 1080 Vienna.
