A pioneer in the technological art experience, Gilardi was one of the protagonists of the Nouveau Realisme and the European Pop Art. The nature carpets were created in the post-pop period of the late '60s and '70s. These are horizontal segments of nature reproduced with foam rubber, allowing for a real tactile and bodily experiencing of the works.
