Dana Vachtová graduated from the AAAD in Prague in 1963 from the studio of professor Josef Kaplický. Her work is greatly experimental. She does not limit herself to glass as such, but likes to combine it with other materials, most often with metal. In the 1980s, she became famous for her avant-garde projects that straddled the boundary between conceptual and land art. Her work from the 1990s is the strongest in terms of its expressiveness; it revolves around biblical and existential themes. She creates the objects either by using the technique of fused sculpture or lost wax casting, which allows her to do detailed and delicate work. She often adds a patina of “archeological” age to her works. The author often creates works with scenic compositions full of contemplation and inner lyricism. The Annunciation work on offer is a gallery example of her distinctive and inimitable style.
