Lenka Němcová first studied at the glassmaking schools in Kamenický Šenov and Nový Bor, and later at the Glass Studio at the AAAD in Prague, graduating this year. She participated in many competitions and exhibitions during her studies. She primarily creates her pieces using the technique of fused sculptures and cut glass.
The Trash is King project, featuring large fused vases, is a provocative polemic on recycling and our current approach to the environment as well as the esthetization of art and the significance of beauty. The vase is conceived as a trash-art composition out of garbage. It creates a contrast through its conversion into the precious material of glass. The material creates an optical illusion due to the light shining through the mass of crystal.
