Fahy scrive: Dr. Fahy schreibt: The picture "is a characteristic work by the anonymous painter known as the Master of the Capana Panels. It was I who first isolated his work; I recognized fifteen of his paintings in my 1967 doctoral dissertation. Some Followers of Domenico Ghirlandaio, pp. 216 - 18, where I called him the Master of Tavernelle. The name was changed by Federico Zeri in his article Una congiunzione tra Firenze e Francia; il Maestro dei Cassoni Camapana (Diari di lavoro 2, Torino, 1976, pp. 5 - 78); Zeri also added eight more paintings to the master's oeuvre and suggested that he might have been a French painter working in Tuscany". Dr. Fahy bestimmte als erster das Werk des bis dahin unbekannten Malers, den Federico Zeri 'Maestro dei Cassoni Campana' benannte, einem vermutlich französischen in der Toskana tätigen Künstler.
