Large format vintage gelatin silver print on fiber-based paper, printed 1972, numbered "AS17 1644" (NASA MSC) in margin, 25,4 x 25,4 cm
This rare and unreleased large format photograph showing superb detail was taken with the 3-inch focal length of the automatic Fairchild metric camera mounted on the SIM bay of the Service Module and operated by Ronald Evans.
The surface of the highlands in the foreground has low ridges and patches of level terrain. It has a higher albedo than the lunar mare nearby, and is a shade of gray typical of continental terrain.
The western shore of the Sea of Crises is in the close foreground featuring craters Glaisher, Proclus A and Proclus F.
The eastern Sea of Tranquility lies on the right horizon, the Bay of Harmony which intrudes into the Sea of tranquility on the center horizon and the northern Sea of Fertility on the left.
