Eduard Josef Wimmer was a Viennese interior design belonging to the Art Nouveau genre who achieved prominence for his work in the world of fashion. Among other positions, he was Director of the Fashion Department at the Vienna Workshops.

He studied at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts under Josef Hoffmann, Alfred Roller and Koloman Moser, from whom he also received private tutelage. He founded the fashion department at the Vienna Workshops in 1910, and remained its director in the following years. Fashion items produced at the Vienna Workshops enjoyed significant success under his influence. From 1922 onwards, he worked as a designer in New York and was in charge of the fashion class at the Chicago Art Institute. Returning to Vienna, he taught at the School of Arts and Crafts and tutored postgraduate fashion students at the University of Applied Arts until 1955.

Together with its original case, a brooch he designed in 1911 sold for €24,418 at a Dorotheum auction.
