Music is in Georg Eisler’s blood. He grew up in an artistic family. His father (Hanns Eisler) was a student of Arnold Schönberg, a colleague of Bert Brecht and himself an important composer. His mother took lessons from Anton Webern, and later made a name for herself as a concert singer and singing teacher. Amongst his ancestors on his father’s side were philosophers, painters, and composers.
Abilities and influences are combined in Georg Eisler, also in the artistic fields – music, literature, the visual. The young, multi-talented Eisler learned (and forgot) many languages, and experienced Moscow, Prague, and England. He was actually active as a jazz musician and worked for a long time as a journalist. Yet painting was for him since the beginning “the most natural form of expression”...
