porcelain, 8 items, the body with narrow and wide gilt edging, bright- and matt gilt painted arch border on a brown band, red and royal blue trim, bright- and matt gilt acanthus vines heightened with red, with rosettes on a white ground, the inner rim with gilt star flowers, Ø 25 cm, 1 rim with restoration, Vienna, Imperial Manufactory, impressed Austrian shield, date 1846, turner no. 6 Leopold Fender 1812-1857 (Ru)

Gustav Ritter von Epstein, (1827-1879), banker, director of the "Privilegierten Österreichischen Nationalbank" and "k. k. privilegierten Österreichischen Bank" in Trieste. In 1868 he commissioned architect Theophil von Hansen to build the palais on present-day Dr. Karl Renner-Ring. Motto: SIS QUI VIDERIS (Be what you appear to be) with crown.
