An old type of weapon, known as a ‘p’tak’ or ‘mak’ as used in southeast Asia as a fighting weapon or hunting weapon, or also as a tool. A long, round bamboo shaft (48 cm long) curves round at the top. The top of this pierced ‘knee’ is set with a long, slightly curved single-edged iron blade (c. 28 cm long) in knee-shaft hafting, and attached with iron rings. A rare object.
Length: 70 cm (in total). First half of the 20th century. (ME)
