Sculpture of a smiling goddess (a ‘devi’) carved from light brown hard wood. In lavish courtly robes with a tall winged crown, standing atop a hemispheric floral plinth. Originally the devi held an object (a box?) in both hands. Unfortunately, her right arm and part of the object have been broken off and lost (very old break). Otherwise no significant damage. And yet with an old, partially shiny patina.
Height: 77 cm. 19th century to around 1900. (ME)
