Jordan, Palestine: the dress of a Palestinian woman, embroidered in the traditional style.
A dress made of black cotton fabric, richly embroidered in small cross-stitch with patterns typical for Palestinian women. Several geometric patterns, stylised flowers, leafy tendrils etc. in various shades of red, green, blue and white come together to form entire areas of embroidery, stripes and borders. On the chest bib, sleeves and on the skirt. There is an entire row of colourful deer embroidered at the bottom of the front side. A very skilful piece of craftsmanship. No damage.
Length: c. 132 cm; width: c. 132 cm (at the sleeves).First half to mid-20th century. (ME)
