Tekke Turkmens, Afghanistan, Iran, Turkmenistan: an old bangle made of silver comprising three rows, each set with three carnelian stones, engraved and gilded.
A typical cuff to be worn on the upper arm of a Tekke Turkmen. Made of very high-quality silver, in three rows. Each of the three rows is engraved with characteristic Tekke patterns (curves, volutes, spirals) and set with three polished carnelian stones. With visible remains of original fire-gilding. A manifestly very old piece with good usage patina.
Height: 8.4 cm; diameter: c. 6 cm. 19th century to around 1900. (ME)
