The Boni and Somali of East Ethiopia and Somalia use neckrests such as this characteristically shaped one. The special feature of this piece is the exceptionally finely executed, entwined band motifs in relief on the outside of the curved reclining surface, on the wide surfaces of both supports, and all the way around the outer side of the tapering conical base.
A perfect example of this type of neckrest from the Horn of Africa. An object with very good, old usage patina. No damage.
