A rare festival and dance apron of the Toraja women, from central Sulawesi. On a locally woven belt, a large field consisting of strung small, white, yellow, red and blue glass pearls has been added. In a transversal, typical, traditional Toraja pattern consisting of rhombs, hooks and zigzag bands. To this field, long strings of strung glass pearls are attached as pendants (length: each c. 34 cm), creating the impression of transversal colourful stripes when seen from the front. A very rare piece in excellent condition. Without damage.
Height: c. 50 cm (in total); width: c. 120 cm (belt); 55 cm (glass pearls field).
