Mixed lot (2 pieces), Tibet, Nepal: a bangle with silver, a turquoise stone and four corals, as well as a ‘Gau’ amulet pendant made of silver and copper, with a coral.
1: A bangle made of black-dyed wood. A third of the bangle is set in silver, with movable parts, a hinge and hook-and-eye closure. The section made of high-quality silver is decorated in three segments with embossed leaf and blossom ornamentation, set with a central turquoise stone and four corals, as well as decorated on both sides with curved bands of turquoise pieces. The silver section terminates on the outside with leafy and meandering bands.
Height: c. 3 cm; diameter: c. 9 cm.
2: A Tibetan amulet pendant, called ‘Gau’. The front side of the rectangular receptacle with rounded corners, as well as the upper, large eyelet and the typical decoration including the smaller eyelet below consist of high-quality silver, cast, embossed and crafted with silver wire. The central segment of the ‘Gau’ pendant displays a relief of deep chased and engraved lotus blossoms on each of the four sides. A coral is set in the centre of the front. The reverse of the ‘Gau’ consists of copper.
