The Hindu goddess ‘Durga’ (the ‘inaccessible’), with ten arms, crown and jewellery. In her eight smaller arms she holds her attributes (sword, bow, shield, club etc.). Her ‘mount’ – a mythical lion – fights before her against her enemy demon (with a human head and the body of an animal). On the attached base plate, lies the head of her main enemy, the bull demon ‘Mahisasur’. An interesting group of figures, cast from brass using the ‘waste mould’ technique in two parts and pieced together on the rear. There is an old breakage to the arm of the fighting demon. Otherwise no damage.
Height: 28 cm; width: 20 cm.
