Mixed lot (7 items): African jewellery: 3 bangles from Morocco and 4 bracelets from sub-Saharan Africa. - Tribal Art

1: Morocco: a heavy bangle cast from good quality silver.
Height: 3.8 cm. The outside is decorated with diagonal grooves alternating with short, punched lines.
Diameter: 7 cm. In addition to that another bangle cast from a good quality silver alloy. Height: 2.6 cm. The outer side is divided into cone-shaped segments in relief that are separated by narrow strips, engraved with a herringbone pattern. The segments in relief display small, punched circles on their crests, alternating with those that are engraved with curved lines and arrows. The engravings are accentuated with black.
Diameter: 6.7 cm. A third bangle: a type from south Morocco. It is hollow and has been crafted from good quality, silver alloy sheet metal. It has a semicircular profile. On the outside it has been decorated with four soldered, rhomb shaped pieces made from the same material. In each of these decorative rhombuses is a cross made from seven chased hemispheres. The four rhombuses are connected above by a ridge of braided silver wire and the bracelet is finished on both sides with bands of thin, plaited silver wire.
Height: 2.2 cm; diameter: 7.7 cm.
2: A pair and two single ornamental bangles originating from sub-Saharan tribes (hard to determine exact origin). A pair of bangles made of a weak silver alloy: executed from spiralled and diagonally twisted wire with thickened ends made of sheet metal, hinged and bolt fastenings. The ends and the bolts display decorative, geometric engraving. Probably from the Peul, Ful or Fulani (?).
Diameter: 8 cm x 6 cm (on the inside). In addition a cast brass bracelet, engraved on the outside with rhomb shapes and circular shaped motifs (from the Djerma, Peul or Lobi?)
Diameter: 7 cm (on the inside). Also a thin, round anklet made of a weak silver alloy, with four-sided thickened ends and some partial herringbone engraving.
Diameter: 8 cm x 9 cm (on the inside).
All seven pieces of jewellery in this lot display traces of long-term use.
