Mixed lot (3 pieces): Tuareg, Sahara from South Morocco and South Algeria to Mali and Niger: two typical Tuareg pendants made from an alloy of silver and a leather bag with a written amulet. - Tribal Art

1: Two pendants made from an alloy of silver with typical, delicate Tuareg engraving. The larger pendant is a type of ‘Agadez cross’. The smaller pendant, along with the attached, twisted and plaited black leather strands, represents the ‘Zinder’ type.
Dimensions: 10 cm x 6.5 cm (‘Agadez cross’); 5.5 cm x 3.8 cm (‘Zinder pendant’).
2: A cross-body bag made from light brown, red, black and green dyed leather with three compartments and two flaps to close. It is embossed with typical Tuareg patterns. It has a shoulder strap made from thin, twisted leather and fabric strands, as well as a closure made of leather. The Tuareg used these bags to carry protective amulets as well as things of everyday use. A compartment of the present Tuareg bag, contained a folded piece of paper with Arabic characters, perhaps a written amulet (it is still present).
Dimensions: 16 cm x c. 14 cm (the bag alone). All three objects in this mixed lot show old traces of use and a good patina.
First half of the 20th century. (ME)
