A small hand cross belonging to a religious leader of the Ethiopian Christian church. Made of cast iron, forged, cut, and decoratively punched with small circles. The four-edged, rounded hilt section in the middle shows good traces of use. A charming, small piece with old patina and no noteworthy damage.
Length: c. 18 cm; width: 7.6 cm (the cross alone, without base).
18th / 19th century. (ME)

Purchased in Addis Abeba, since then: Belgian private collection.
