Carved of very hard, light-coloured wood, dyed dark reddish-brown. The mother sits with crossed legs and holds her child on her knees. The woman displays a typical cap and has inserted eyes of yellow glass, with painted pupils. Her mouth is characteristically protruding and open. On her body, which is slightly leaning forward, she displays the typical tribal decorative scars and ornamental bangles. A very fine and precisely executed piece, with slight cracks due to age and a good, old, partly shiny patina.
Height: 23.5 cm.
First half of the 20th century. (ME)
