Adam Bernhard Mickiewicz was a famous Polish poet (born on 24.12.1798 in Zaosie, Russian Empire, died on 26.11.1855 in Constantinople). The bust was modelled by Stanislaus Lewandowski, a Polish sculptor, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Mickiewicz’ death.

Stanislaus Roman Lewandowski (b. Kotliny 22.2.1859), Polish sculptor and medal maker in Vienna, studies at Cracow art school, with J. Matejko and Gadomski, Viennese Academy, 1883/87 under Hellmer and Zumbusch, working in Cracow for 2 years, later Lemberg, from 1894 Vienna; 1924 chief medal maker at the Polish mint, from 1925 in Vienna;
