France, Napoleon III period, circa 1870. A turned ebonised table with bronze mounts, frieze and top, with high quality marquetry in partly burnt and dyed woods, such as rosewood, burl thuja wood, maple and ebony. The folding top has a rosewood-veneered fitted interior, as well as a lined interior compartment for writing implements or make up. Ca. 76 x 62 x 43 cm. Some ageing and evidence of restoration. (PZ)
