Die Welt muß man gesehen oder gefühlt haben, das heißt, man muß etwas Spezifisches kennen, um es zu begreifen und es zu machen. Und nicht nur im Nebel oder beiläufig zu stehen.

Er malt nur, weil ihm die Namen der Farben gefallen: Sepia, Umbra, Titanweiß, Phtalogrün, Coelinblau.

One has to have seen or felt the world, that is, one must know something specific, in order to grasp it and to make it. And not only to stand in passing or in the dark.

He only paints because he likes the names of the colours: sepia, umber, titanium white, phthalo green, cerulean blue.
